The gang headed for there second weekend away and once again it was to Wales, Afan Argoed to be precise. Much fun, riding and drinking was had by all as we hit the Penhydd on Saturday, followed by drinking, eating and laughing, a heart breakfast the next morning, then blizzards, rain sun and The Wall. After all that we went home to reflect on a fine weekend.

Forum day out at Cannock Chase - Staffordshire
Sunday January 19th

We started 2005 as we started 2004 with a ride at Cannock Chase, one of our two spiritual homes (Swinley being the other). Despite the fact that it was January the weather was surprisingly kind to us with a nice sunny day but better still was the state of the trails. Gone was most of the mud that was there the last time to be replaced with some fast swooping high quality singletrack with the only the occasional gloopy bit to deal with. It has to be said it was a top days riding with some secret bits and playing around the quarry thrown in for good measure, plus a night ride around the dog and dinner in a pub afterwards it turned into one top day!

Forum day out at Swinley Forest – Bracknell
Tuesday 28th December 2004

Having suffered several days of dodgy inlaws, looking pleased about receiving dodgy presents and having drunk and eaten everything in sight 9 of the forum nutters headed for a day out at Swinley. Doug and Genus represented the Welsh posse while the rest were made up of gruffbear, robs, jester, badgers, all the gear, Stefan and robcoll. For once the weather smiled on us and it was a nice sunny day even though the ground underfoot was very muddy at times, hence the slippin’ and sliding. Still it was a good day, photos are online and Jesters words are eagerly awaited.

Stuff the Turkey Part 2
forum Ride at Cwm Carn South Wales - Sunday November 14th

For our final ride before Christmas and to help work off the Xmas parties we headed for South Wales where we were greeted by a seasonal scene as the area had had a snowfall overnight. Genus, Goose, Ms Goose, the now legendary “Hairytom” and robcoll hit the snow and ice for a fun day out where much slipping and sliding was the order of the day along with the occasional snowball. Some people used the pitiful excuse of hangovers to not turn up but they now know they really missed out. Anyway the picturesque photos are online and the story and words will follow, one day, honestly.

Stuff the Turkey Part 1
forum ride at Stanage Edge – Peak District

Tatty Tiger led the way on this, our first of two pre-xmas rides. Around a real loop in real countryside where for once the weather forecast was right, so what was it like, dull wet, windy, no it was sunny so read the little ray of sunshine’s report and look at the pics…

Forum Day Out - Midland Series
Cannock Chase, Staffordshire - Sunday November 14th

Our biggest ride to date with over 20 riders hitting the trails of Cannock Chase and getting all dog like. It is with great pleasure that the writer of this prose happened to notice that the stacking baton was firmly passed on to none other than Tatty Tiger who on more than one occasion brightened the day up with a stinky muddy stack and a rather spectacular backward dismount into a ditch. Some of us even made it to a night ride followed by a well earned beer and some food in a local pub. Anyway, enough of this, read the words and look at the pictures (and video) of another fine day out.

Forum Day Out - Southern Series No 3
Swinley Forest, Bracknell - Sunday October 24th

The return to the southerners spiritual home with Gruffbear in full effect leading the way. Plenty of mud, sweat, grin and gears was the order of the day as helenf, vd, mrs vd, master vd, all the gear no idea, smudge, jester and robcoll hit the trails. So look at the allaction photos from robcoll and the epic prose from jester and ask yourself, why wasn't I there as well, doh!

Staveley, somewhere off the M6 - Sunday 4th Oct

Forum Day Out - Southern Series (No3)
Swinley Forest - The Lookout - Bracknell

Saturday 28th August 2004 saw the southern series return to Swinley Forest with the promise of even more singletrack to ride than before. This time we managed a long day out (8.5 hours), no rain and only small incidents including robcolls exploding EC70 seat post.

Twelve us of took to the trails for the day, Gruffbear, Jester, Pyreneen Demon & Demoness, Nick72 and 72ess, Goose & Goosess, All the gear no idea, Kronenburg (complete with hangover), Rich the Sherpa (with a smaller camera) and Robcoll. At times resembling a social gathering where only a bar was missing a fine time was had by all, full story from Jester, videos as well and enjoy the photos.

Forum Day Out - Northern Series (No 1)
Wharnecliffe Woods - Sheffield

On a warm and sunny Sunday in August and following some awful weather that made the ground underfoot tricky to say the least the gang made there way to Wharnecliffe Woods on the promise of some hairy downhills, so did they find them or was it just a myth, find out and read the full story.

Forum Day Out - Southern Series (No 2)
Thetford Forest, Norfolk

On a hot sunny Sunday in August the southern boys hit the eastern flatlands at Thetford Forest. In attendance was Biturbo, Jennaj, Noggsy, Ratcals, all the gear no idea, Jester, Fen Tiger, Stefan and Robcoll.

Despite the heat fun was had by all, a few fall overs but unlike Cannock no spectacular stacks. Words by Jester and photos by robcoll, just check out them feet!

Forum Day Out - Northern/Midland Series (No2)
Cannock Chase, Staffordshire

Following our first successful ride at Cannock back in May we returned to the scene of former glories (!). This time, safely guided by Del and Nick, we found loads of new trails and some vicious hills, up and down.

Fourteen of us took to the trails, Del, Nick, Wildsurfer (AKA Devon Dave), Halo, Badgers, Smudge, Stefan, all_the_gear_no_idea, A Saint, Gruffbear, Jester, Flat Eric, and Stump. Robcoll took over the stacking baton from Gruffbear and much fun and pish taking was the order of the day, so for now enjoy the photos, more of them to come as well, as are Jesters words.

Forum Day Out - Southern Series (No1)
Swinley Forest - The Lookout - Bracknell

Sunday 27th June 2004 was the first Southern Series Forum Day Out and we hit Swinley Forest, miles of singletrack, surprisingly some steep hills, a downpour and a wipeout.

Seven us of took to the trails for the day, Gruffbear, Jester, A Saint, Pyreneen Demon, Fat Bloke, Richard and Robcoll and as predicted it was a laugh a minute. Jester has done a full write up so enjoy the words, the photos and the wipeout (sorry Gruffbear).

Forum Day Out - North/Midlands Series (Nr1)
Cannock Chase - Staffordshire, Sunday May 2004

Our very first ride out on a warm sunny Sunday in May, there was Jester, Halo, Smudge, BitTurbo, Tai Chi Mark, Robcoll and our guide Devon Dave. Despite all meeting for the first time there was much fun and laughter alongside some serious riding, enjoy the words and pictures by Jester and Robcoll respectively.
